Probyn Leaves LN For Sports Show

Live Nation UK COO John Probyn has announced he’s leaving the company to hold the chief operating officer position for a new family-themed event titled The Sports Show.
winning a lifetime achievement award at the UK Festival Awards in 2012.

“I am very excited to be joining the Sports Show, it’s a challenging project but I will be part of a world class team and the opportunity to deliver something that has never been done before was just too hard to turn down,” Probyn said in a statement, which added that he joined The Sports Show in early September.

The news of Probyn’s new gig came along with the announcement of the NEC taking a 25 percent stake in the inaugural event.

The Sports Show “is created to inspire kids to play, love and live sport.” The National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham will host the event June 24-26 2016.

Probyn, a father of two, tweeted Sept. 11 a picture with the caption, “About 25% of the space I have to fill in June with the most incredible event I have been involved with – stay tuned!”

Probyn will work alongside Sports Show director Ed Rusling, founder of the Super Skills Experience sporting and holiday events.

“The Sports Show is going to be a playground of fun for kids across the country,” Rusling said. “We will be taking over most of the NEC and we plan to pack every inch with as many different sports as we can.”

Probyn had been at Live Nation UK since 2001, where he was involved with major events including Creamfields, Download and Wireless Festivals.
