Jazz Bakery Debuts New Digs
Los Angeles’ Jazz Bakery is finally getting a permanent home after 23 years in leased and rented venues.
Plans for the nonprofit arts presenter’s new digs, which are being designed by Frank Gehry, were recently unveiled as part of a Gehry retrospective at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
The venue, a “stunning, architecturally significant landmark composed of glass, metal and wood,” will be located in Culver City and is expected to include a 266-seat theater, a 60-seat community space, interactive jazz museum and café.
Artists that have taken the stage at the Jazz Bakery’s “Moveable Feast” concert series include James Carter, Esperanza Spalding, Charlie Haden, Diana Krall,
The Jazz Bakery is slated to open in 2019 or 2020.
