December With The Punch Brothers

Minneapolis, Knoxville, Reading and Charlottesville are among the towns included in the Punch Brothers’ December plans.

The latest Punch Brothers Album is the T Bone Burnett-produced The Phosphorescent Blues, released in January.  Writing for Glide Magazine, Brice Ezell provided a track-by-track critique of the album, saying that the musicians continue to “sound young” and, although they have individually been playing music since childhood, “none of their compositional energy and creativity has diminished whatsoever.”

Hardly idle until December, the Punch Brothers will play Burlington, Vt., Saturday night and appear at the Toronto Urban Roots Festival Sept. 20.  Other upcoming destinations include Millvale, Pa. (Sept. 22); Jackson, Mich. (Sept. 23); Louisville, Ky. (Sept. 24); the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Franklin, Tenn. (Sept. 26); and the Roots N Blues BBQ Festival in Columbia, Mo. (Sept. 27).

The Punch Brothers might want to slap some chains on the ol’ tour bus tires for the December road trip because the routing takes them through several snow-country locales.  Here’s the plan:

Dec. 1 – Madison, Wis., Overture Hall
Dec. 2 – Joliet, Ill., Rialto Square Theatre
Dec. 3 – Minneapolis, Minn., State Theatre
Dec. 6 – Ithaca, N.Y., State Theatre
Dec. 7 – New Brunswick, N.J., State Theatre
Dec. 9 – Reading, Pa., Santander Performing Arts Center
Dec. 11 – Wilmington, Del., Grand Opera House
Dec. 12 – Port Chester, N.Y., The Capitol Theatre
Dec. 16 – Charlottesville, Va., Paramount Theater
Dec. 17 – Durham, N.C., Carolina Theatre
Dec. 18 – Knoxville, Tenn., Bijou Theatre

Presales began this week with general onsales planned for a Sept. 18 launch.  Click here for more details.
