Lorde, Conchords Team Up For Charity

Lorde and Flight of the Conchords are among New Zealand’s most famous music names who came together to record a charity single “Team, Ball, Player, Thing” under the name Kiwis Cure Batten.

The track, released Sept. 10, is an attempt to raise NZ$1 million ($630,000) for children’s health research charity Cure Kids’ to find a cure for Batten Disease.

The lethal neuro-degenerative disorder starts in childhood.

Just 24 hours after release, the song topped the iTunes chart and entered the New Zealand artist singles chart at No. 6. Also on the record are high profile names Brooke FraserKimbraThe Naked and FamousBroods, and Savage.

The secret sessions were produced by Lorde’s Grammy-winning collaborator Joel Little in his studios in New Zealand and Los Angeles.

The track and accompanying video also features the country’s All Blacks rugby team and filmmaker Peter Jackson. Many of the acts also featured on Flight of the Conchords’ 2012 chart-topping charity single “Feel Inside (And Stuff Like That)” for Cure Kids.
