Devils Execs Negotiating Settlement

A settlement is in the works for a legal matter between a pair of former executives for the New Jersey Devils.

Former president for Devils Arena Entertainment Richard Krezwick sued the team’s GM Lou Lamoriello in January seeking more than $2 million in lost wages after he was fired in 2013.

Lamoriello has since taken over as GM for the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to court documents obtained by The Record, the attorney for Lamoriello recently requested a two-week extension to file a response to the complaint.

“The parties are in the process of finalizing … a settlement agreement,” attorney Seth Goldman wrote, adding that the parties have agreed to mediation and anticipate the complaint will be dismissed. Krezwick’s suit alleges Lamoriello objected to his hiring and was openly critical of him before dismissing him during a staff meeting at which a new arena president was introduced.
