Madonna First For Studio City
The new venue will open in November with a concert by Cantopop superstar Aaron Kwok. Studio City seats 5,000 and includes 16 private VIP suites.
In a statement to announce the opening of the venue, Studio City’s president, JD Clayton, said, “The fact that Studio City can attract and fully accommodate live performances from the world’s biggest stars on their world tour circuits demonstrates our commitment and desire to support Macau’s leisure entertainment destination proposition.”
As such, Studio City will directly compete with the Venetian Macao, which opened in 2007 and is presently the only venue in the territory that can stage such ambitious shows. Last week the Venetian hosted Bon Jovi after Chinese authorities canceled the rock band’s concerts on the mainland.
