Sandi Patty’s Farewell Tour
This week’s news blast refers to Patty as “the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music,” with accolades including five Grammy awards and more than 40 Dove awards. Patty has sold more than 12 million units, picking up three platinum records and five gold records. Highlights of her nearly four-decade career include singing “The Star Spangled Banner” during the rededication of the Statue of Liberty in 1986, performing during three separate Presidential inaugurations, and played with symphonies across the country, including headlining the title role in “Hello, Dolly” with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
“What a privilege it has been to share my story and faith through song for so many years,” Patty said. “My heart is full of gratitude for so many who have been along this journey with me. I could never have imagined my career taking me to so many amazing places and meeting so many people who have changed my life forever … My desire is to use this next season and the ‘Forever Grateful’ tour as an opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to as many people as possible.”
The new album, which is also titled Forever Grateful, is due out early next year. The LP includes new songs co-written by Patty, as well as tunes co-written by Michael W. Smith, Nichole Nordeman and others.
Patty’s farewell tour will visit more than 90 cities across the globe, including holiday tour dates, special events, major symphony shows and the “Sandi Patty & Friends Cruise.” Dates are planned through spring 2017. The initial routing is scheduled February-June and includes more than 20 gigs in the U.S.
