Vegas Watch: Carlos Santana, Celine Dion

Carlos Santana announces his 2016 dates for his Las Vegas residency at House Of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.  Meanwhile, Celine Dion adds shows scheduled from late February to early June for her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

The title of Santana’s Las Vegas residency at HOB Mandalay Bay tells you all you need to know.  “An Intimate Evening With Santana: Greatest Hits Live” presents one of the finest guitarists in the world along with his band in an intimate setting.  Sporting a catalog that includes such hits as “Evil Ways,” “Black Magic Woman,” “Oye Como Va,” and “Smooth,” Santana delivers the goods on his Las Vegas stay.

Now you have more chances to Santana in intimate surroundings.  Newly added dates are Jan. 27 & 29-31, Feb. 3-6 and May 18, 20-22, 25 & 27-29.

A Citi presale begins Oct. 6 at 10 a.m.  The M Life / House Of Blues / Ticketmaster / Live Nation presale starts Oct. 7 at 10 a.m., followed by the general onsale Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. All times PDT. Prices begin at $99.50 plus fees and VIP options are available.  But you don’t have to wait until January to experience Santana in Vegas.  There are still tickets available for Nov. 4, 6-8, 11 and 13-15.  A portion of all tickets sold will be donated to The Milagro Foundation. The modern Las Vegas residency began back in in the early aughts when Caesars Palace announced it had booked Celine Dion for multiple shows starting in 2003 at its then brand new Colosseum.  “A New Day …” ran through late 2007 with more than 700 shows.

Now the singer has 23 additions to her “Celine” residency.  But don’t go thinking this is the same show that delighted her fans back in 2011.  After a one-year break, Dion returned to the Colosseum in August with a new presentation directed by Grammy Awards producer Ken Ehrlich.

The new dates for February are 23-24 & 26-27.  March additions are 1-2, 4-5, 8-9 & 11-12.  May dates are 17-18, 20-21, 24, 27-28 & 31. June performances are scheduled 1 & 3-4.

Tickets for the new shows go on sale Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. PDT.  Tickets are also available for shows scheduled through January.  Check out for information.
