Soundwave Company Enters Voluntary Administration

Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah put one of his companies, Soundwave Festival Pty Ltd, into voluntary administration in the NSW Supreme Court in Australia.

The company operated the Australian festival from 2009 (after its first operating company KMW went into administration) until April 2015. Maddah was its sole director. A creditor’s meeting is scheduled Oct. 9. Maddah is also sole shareholder of The Hounds of Hell Pty Ltd and HOH Holdings Pty Ltd, set up in Aug. 24.

Soundwave Festival Pty Ltd was wound up by Melbourne builder World Stages Pty Ltd, which made the application Aug. 28 for monies owed. In June cleaning company Spotless Facility Services also served on Soundwave Festival Pty Ltd claiming it was owed A$47,666 ($33,609).

World Stages itself went into liquidation July 16 after a wind-up order by Butlers Events & Staging Pty Ltd. Plans continue for Soundwave to stage in 2016 in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne Jan. 23-26.

At its peak it staged in five cities to a total of 200,000 fans. In recent years, Perth and Adelaide were dropped following low ticket sales.

Acts already announced for 2016 include Bring Me The HorizonBullet For My ValentineRefusedLordiNorthlaneHatebreedDead Letter CircusFailureMoose Blood and Devil You Know. A full announcement is due Oct. 15.
