Joanna Newsom Dives Back Into Touring

Joanna Newsom announces her long-awaited return to the road, with dates on both sides of the Atlantic. Her first full-fledged tour since 2010 begins at the end of this month, a week after her fourth studio album is due out.

It’s also been five years since Newsom released a new LP. Divers arrives Oct. 23 via Drag City as the follow-up to Have One On Me.

Newsom told Entertainment Weekly that during the past few years she “was always writing.”

She adds, “I also spent a year or two on the instrumental arrangements and overdubs. I wanted the character and colors of the instrumentation to shift definitively, from song to song, which entailed a wide pool of collaborators and a lengthy collaborative process with each person.”

After releasing the official video for the track “Sapokanikan” in August, last month her label posted the official audio for “Leaving The City.”

As for the official video for the title track, you’ll have to visit your local movie theater to check that out. Select theaters across the globe will show the theatrical-only release between Oct. 16-22. The “Divers” video was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and filmed at the studio of Kim Keever, who created the artwork used on the album packaging.
