Showtime Picks Up ‘Roadies’

Showtime has picked up Cameron Crowe and J.J. Abrams’ “Roadies,” an ensemble comedy surrounding the lives of a group of rock roadies.

The series will chronicle the world of rock through the eyes of roadies for the arena-level Staton-House Band, Deadline Hollywood reported.

Cast will include Carla Gugino, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Peter Cambor, and Colson Baker – better known by his stage name, Machine Gun Kelly. Winnie Holzman and Bryan Burke are on hand to executive produce the one-hour show and Kelly Curtis, Pearl Jam’s manager and a frequent collaborator with Crowe, has been tapped as producer and music supervisor, Deadline reported.

“I’ve long wanted to work with J.J. and Winnie, and coming together to tell these stories has been beyond a blast,” Crowe said in a statement. “Showtime has a great track record with music-based projects, and they’ve been wonderful partners. The actors are all so passionate about music too, and the whole show has the feeling of stories and music shared between friends. We can’t wait to bring it all to life in 2016.”
