Arizona Jazz Festival Canceled

The Roots, Maxwell, Keith Sweat, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Toni Braxton and Jeffrey Osborne are just some of the acts finding themselves with a day off this upcoming week as organizers cancel the one week before it was to take place.

Planned for Oct. 23-25 at the Rawhide Event Center in Chandler southeast of Phoenix, the festival also included Jodeci, Common, Peter White, Erykah Badu and Ledisi on its lineup.

But all that has vanished into cancellation haze.  Fans visiting the festival’s website found a white page bearing the bad news.

“With great regret, the Arizona Jazz Festival has been cancelled,” the message from Management – BTWConcerts.com read. “Details regarding refunds will be available shortly. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”

The local ABC TV affiliate reported on Oct. 18 that the announcement posted on the festival’s website was the first word that the event had been scrubbed and that ticket holders had yet to receive an email confirming the cancelation.  According to the television station, the promoter had “deleted all traces of the event from social media.”
