County commissioners recently approved the $8 million purchase, which will clear the way for construction of a new access road for visitors to the arena, according to the local Gwinnett Daily Post.

Commissioner Lynette Howard told the paper the road should help relieve traffic after events.

“It’s so we can get everybody safely out of there quickly and improve that experience because when people have to sit in traffic for 20 to 30 minutes, they get mad – especially when they can see where they’re going to go,” Howard said.

Including the addition of the new road, the center will feature four entrance and exit points, with one designated for crews setting up concerts and conferences at the facility.

Additional plans for the entertainment district include construction of housing and a Marriott hotel, the paper noted.
