SMG Inks Knoxville Deal
SMG has secured a temporary agreement to oversee operations at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum and Chilhowee Park.
Under the terms of the contract, SMG will not charge a management fee, but the city will cover SMG’s operating expenses, the local WBIR-TV reported.
Knoxville is preparing to issue a Request for Proposals for a company to permanently take over the venues by the end of the year.
The move follows a recent investigation that uncovered payroll irregularities at the venues, leading to the firing of several employees, the station noted.
