Label Closes Suddenly

The company was started in 1997 by the late Ken Suzuki, one of the founders of Avex Trax, the biggest independent record company in Japan. Its purpose was, according to an article in the Straits Times, to handle “distribution in Singapore and across Asia” for a range of artists through a subsidiary called Sense Corporation. Many of the artists it handled were acts based in Singapore and the Philippines.
However, it also released records by a Canadian jazz singer-pianist and a British jazz artist. Boutique labels specialized in funk and easy listening titles, as well as compilation albums featuring a variety of Southeast Asian pop and electronic acts. The company released a press statement saying, “We have decided to cease all businesses and operations across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan due to the music downturn. We are in talks with a couple of labels on selling our back catalogues.”
