Car Magnet Leads To Assault
Salt Lake City police are searching for suspects in an assault that happened after a Garth Brooks concert Oct. 31 involving six or seven men. KSL-TV reported Nov. 4 that Terry Leeper from Wyoming and some friends had attended the concert at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

At about 2 a.m. Leeper and another friend were leaving their hotel to drive back to Wyoming when the friend noticed several men around his pick-up truck, which has a Confederate flag magnet on it.
After trading barbs with the African-American men, one of whom made a crack about the flag, a fight broke out, KSL reported. Leeper told KSL the men, who allegedly assaulted Leeper and friends, scattered when they heard police were on their way.
He added, “There was four of us total, and one of [us] was African-American. I don’t want to be labeled a racist.” Police said that anger over the Confederate flag isn’t in itself a hate crime but the entire confrontation will be looked into, KSL said.
