Waitemata Local Board will impose a 24-hour booze ban form 6 a.m. in the zone surrounding the venue. Those breaking the hell’s bells ban face a NZ$250 ($164) fine. Board chairman Shale Chambers said that police advised her that even though many of the audience would be in its 60s, “they were concerned about the level of alcohol consumption before and after the concert, and we as a board shared that concern.

“They said these kind of temporary bans have significantly assisted in curbing alcohol-related harm and offending in public areas. They were worried about the safety of the members of the public who encounter AC/DC fans.”
