Sixth Plc Acquires Stake In Big New Year

Sixth founder Dean James will join the board of venue group Big New Year, bringing along 20 years of experience in the live industry. 

No selling price was disclosed. According to Big New Year, the money will be used to build more venues and invest in technology.

Dean James co-founded UK live company Mama Group in 2005 and ran it as CEO until exiting in early 2014. He founded Sixth in October th in 2012, a 6,000-square-foot warehouse, which hosted concerts by Thom YorkeHot Chip and

The venue also serves as space for film screenings, classical concerts, pop-up dining and art exhibitions. In October 2015 Big New Year opened the 200-capacity venue The Pickle Factory right opposite the Oval Space. “Despite the negativity in the press surrounding the current state of arts and music venues, I believe there is still room in the market for more quality venues, and I am thrilled to have Sixth Media involved as we enter a new chapter and seek to create more spaces for London,” said Gross.

Co-founder Sylvester left the company in November to focus on other projects.
