Cajundome Preps For Renovations
The 30-year-old Cajundome in Lafayette, La., is getting its biggest upgrade to date with a $20 million makeover that will see the venue closing in May 2016 for a six-month renovation project.

Plans for the renovation include replacing existing seats and adding additional seating to bring capacity for concerts to 11,000, new lighting and renovations in restrooms and lobby areas.
The new seats will be black, replacing the Cajundome’s current orange and white seating, and the new lights will be LED, allowing tighter focus on performances and games.
Around $1.2 million will be used to clean and seal the arena’s roof, which has apparently been darkened by mildew over the years. Upgrades are scheduled to wrap by December 2016.
