Mobile Ticketing Grows In China
The CEO of the company told Chinadaily, “We cut many intermediate links to save costs, trying to provide discount tickets to fans. We try to achieve the goal that watching a show or concert is no longer a luxury for fans.”
Users can set the app to their own preferences, so when tickets for a particular artist go on sale, presumed fans of that artists are immediately alerted by their mobile device.
The app also provides a variety of outlets for available tickets. One user who had just bought tickets to see Hong Kong singer Eason Chan told the site that he had “tried some popular online ticket sales sites like Damai and LY, but all the tickets were sold out and I don’t trust scalpers.”
However, he was able to find tickets via Vipiao. The main reason the app has taken off is that China’s performing arts market is also taking off.
The 2015 China Music Industry Annual Report states that concerts in China in 2014 drew 20 million people, an increase of 24 percent over 2013.
