Alessia Cara’s ‘Know-It-All’ Tour
The 19-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter released her debut studio album, Know-It-All, last week via Def Jam. The LP features the single “Here,” which Cara got the chance to play for 55,000 people during a guest appearance at Swift’s Tampa, Fla., Halloween show.
After performing together, Swift interviewed Cara backstage. During the three-part interview, which was posted online this week, Swift asked Cara about focusing on the music, rather than image and hype.
“I knew that when I was going to do this one day … that I wanted it to be about the music,” Cara said. “So when I would go around to play for labels … shopping around, trying to get signed, I just made it a point to say, ‘This is who I am.’ I dressed the way I would always normally dress. And I just wanted to find a label that would accept me for that so they wouldn’t try to mold me into anything.”
