After hosting live shows for the Boston-area for 47 years, Somerville’s Johnny D’s Restaurant & Music Club has called it quits.

After a weekend of free concerts and a celebratory parade, the 300-capacity Johnny D’s closed for good March 13. Located by Tufts University, the venue hosted a wide variety of shows in its decades of operation from jazz to country to gospel to rock.
In addition to a number of young and local acts, the venue hosted acts such as Neil and Pegi Young, The Dixie Chicks, Andrew Bird, Avett Brothers and
Owner Carla DeLellis said the property would be redeveloped into commercial and residential space.
