Metallica To Open Vikings’ New Stadium

Wanna see Metallica christen the brand-new home of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings? Sure you do. Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat are also on the ticket with general onsales launching later this week.

Metallica headlines the inaugural rock concert at U.S. Bank Stadium Aug. 20. Today’s press blast proudly states that Avenged Sevenfold’s placement on the bill marks “one of only a few shows” the band will play in the U.S. this year.

But Metallica is the main attraction. Handling quoting duties is drummer Lars Ulrich.

“We had such an amazing time playing in our hometown stadium the night before the Super Bowl that when asked we couldn’t’ say ‘no’ to another chance to be part of a very special weekend,” Ulrich said.

Metallica launches its Met Club presale March 22 at 8 a.m. and it runs until March 24 at 10 p.m. Fans of Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat can participate in presales beginning March 22 at 12 p.m. and running through March 24 at 10 p.m.
