Celtic Thunder Set To Storm US

Irish and Celtic music lovers should count their lucky stars, because Celtic Thunder has announced a 77-city tour throughout North America.  The group’s show, “Legacy”, will be in the States from Aug. 19 to Dec. 4.

In “Legacy”, the group performs some of its most popular ensemble and solo pieces. The styles of music vary from dance songs such as “Galway Girl” to ballads like “Danny Boy” and “Noreen.” The group’s performances usually feature theatrical elements including Irish dancing, traditional costumes and creative sets.

The group, consisting of five male vocalists and an eight-piece backing band, has been in existence for eight years. Membership in the group has rotated substantially during its existence, with one of its most recognizable members, “Big” George Donaldson, having died from a heart attack in 2014. A number of other performers have left the group over the years as well, so for those of you that have seen the group before, membership may have changed since your last experience with the band.

The band is also scheduled to tour Australia in May. Recordings in CD and DVD of the “Legacy” show were made available in February, marking the group’s 14th release in its 8 year existence.

The group posted this video onto their website in honor of St. Patrick’s Day:
