Second Music Roundtable Set For August
The second National Contemporary Music Roundtable will be in Sydney in August. Last year, 40 delegates from major associations met to discuss issues facing the industry.
The result was the National Music Business Plan. The live sector was represented by Live Performance Australia, the Association of Artist Managers, Live Music Office, Australian Music Industry Network and Sounds Australia.
The August meet will host 100 delegates, courtesy of a A$30,000 ($22,640) grant from the city of Sydney.
It will bring together federal, state and local policy makers to discuss strategies for government support of the music industry. The National Music Business Plan will be unveiled during the sessions.
Music Australia CEO Chris Bowen, a 50-member peak association representing the entire industry and which convened the meet, says, “The Roundtable is set to become Australia’s major music policy and industry development forum – a national brains trust for innovation and development in contemporary music.”
