Legend and Rock Royalty Enter Delirium

Primus bassist Les Claypool and Sean Lennon, son of Beatle John Lennon, have combined forces to create The Lennon Claypool Delirium. They announced their collaboration in January, and have now released tour dates for North America, including a stop at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

The music of their debut album, Monolith of Phobos, has been described by Lennon as an “old-school psychedelic/prog record”, with Lennon handling guitar and Claypool holding down the bass, with both sharing duties on drums and vocals.

While the album doesn’t release until June, a few songs have been released to stimulate the appetites of those interested.

Claypool’s work with Primus helped him develop a reputation as one of the premier rock bassists of the 90s, and he puts his unique skills and style on display in the tracks that are available. Lennon, who has been in the bands Cibo Matto and The Ghost of A Saber Tooth Tiger, brings a range of talent that Claypool has talked up.

“I think folks will be most surprised by what a monster guitar player he is,” Claypool has said. “Not only does he have technical ability, but also the sounds that come out of his rig tend to be pretty bent and compelling.”

The guys are scheduled to move from Florida on June 4, the day after the album’s release, through the South, and then into the Midwest and East Coast, finishing with a show in Washington, D.C. on September 1.
