Prince Books Two Theatre Gigs In Atlanta

The forecast is calling for some purple rain to be hitting Atlanta soon. Prince just added two intimate shows in ATL to his “Piano & A Microphone” tour.

Both gigs take place April 7 at the 4,665-capacity Fox Theatre, with one performance at 7 p.m. and the other at 10 p.m.

Prince has left his backing band and guitar behind for this outing as he shows off what he can do with just a piano and a microphone. His royal highness will treat fans to tunes from throughout his massive catalog, along with some other selections. Previous “Piano & A Microphone” concerts have featured Prince’s take on songs by Joni Mitchell, Paul Robeson and Ray Charles, as well as songs he’s written for acts including The Time, Sheila E. and Vanity 6.  An announcement promises that each performance boasts a “unique setlist that evolves in real time, song-to-song.”

Tickets go on sale March 30 at 12 p.m. EST. The venue box office will open at that time for in-person sales. Tickets are limited to two per customer, per show. No photography or video is allowed.
