Board chairman J. Michael Ortiz will take over in the interim until a permanent CEO can be found. The association operates the Fairplex facility in Pomona, Calif., which hosts the fair as well as concerts and other events.
The Los Angeles Times published findings of its own investigation that showed Henwood received more than $1 million in compensation while the association reported nearly $3.5 million in losses. Henwood said that he’s proud of his tenure but had become a distraction from the fair association’s work.
