Sigur Rós Strips Down

Sigur Rós returns to the U.S. in the fall but you can forget about the string and brass sections that appeared on previous tours.  The September-October road trip features the band returning to its trio core to perform two sets each evening.

Sigur Rós says the mostly theatre journey will be its most intimate tour in a decade. What’s more, for the first time since 2002, the group is playing new music before it releases an album.  The band also promises new interpretations of songs it hasn’t played “in a very long time.”

Even though Sigur Rós is losing the strings and brass, the band isn’t scrimping on the visuals.  The team behind the band’s “Knights Of Illumination” tour is designing the live production.

Oh, and you better arrive on time come show night because there won’t be an opening act.

Sigur Rós’ summer calendar includes festivals, festivals and more festivals.  Spain’s , Denmark’s and Russia’s are just a few of the mammoth music events hosting the band.  Check out the video announcing the tour and then eyeball the U.S. and Canada dates to see which evening works best for you.
