Eventbrite Highlights Importance Of Free Events

A series of panels and exhibitions hosted by ticketing platform Eventbrite will focus on the history and cultural importance of free concerts and festivals.

London, Dublin and Glasgow will host discussions with industry professionals April 6-17. In London, DJ Pete “Woosh” of the free party sound system DIY and free festival veteran Chris Tofu will be on a panel.

“In Glasgow a panel will explore the challenges and advantages of creating music events, with a sharp eye on festival culture, and in Dublin the focus will be on the issue of attracting sponsors, and sponsorship,” an announcement reads.

The exhibitions will showcase photos, posters, audio and video material on each city’s history of free events. “Free event organizers tell us that their pinch points for hosting free music, community and cultural gatherings can be as simple as availability of suitable venues and spaces. Sometimes they are looking for guidance on everything from health and safety training, to making the most of social media and technology to market and manage the event,” said Joel Crouch, Eventbrite’s General Manager for UK and Ireland.

According to Crouch, more than 1 million free events used Eventbrite for ticketing and registering in 2015.
