Piebald Announces Reunion Tour

It turns out that Piebald’s reunion isn’t going to be just a one-off appearance. The alternative rock band is all set to hit the road in August for its first tour since 2007.

Piebald made fans’ day in March by announcing it was “coming out of retirement!!” to play The Wrecking Ball festival in Atlanta in August. Now the guys have nearly a dozen headline dates to go along with the festival gig.

The band, which got its start in Andover, Mass., broke the news to fans in August 2007 that it was calling it quits after 14 years. Piebald put out its sixth and final studio album, Accidental Gentleman, that year. Noisey writes that the band “released a ton of celebrated songs over their 14-year tenure. Anyone worth their weight in early 2000s nostalgia can sing along to ‘American Hearts’ or ‘The Monkey Vs. The Robot.’”

Piebald said goodbye to fans with a few farewell shows in April 2008. Since then the group has only taken the stage twice. It appearanced at 2010’s Bamboozle festival in East Rutherford, N.J., and The Bamboozle California in Anaheim.

Drummer Luke Garro tells Consequence of Sound the timing felt right to get back together this year.

“We’ve been itching to do this for a few years now, but were hesitant to do it without a real ‘reason,’” Garros says. “We first got asked to play Wrecking Ball down in ATL, and when we saw that a bunch of old friends – Thursday, Hey Mercedes, The Promise Ring, et cetera – were going to be on the lineup, we couldn’t resist a party like that.

“That, and we just recently re-released all of our past material on iTunes, so 2016 just felt like a good year to get back with the fans.”

The “You’re Part Of It!” tour is split up into an East Coast and West Coast leg. The outing kicks off in Piebald’s old stomping grounds with a Boston gig Aug. 8.
