Pop Star Dies From Onstage Snake Bite
An Indonesian pop singer died April 3 in a bizarre and tragic incident after a cobra being used as a prop bit her onstage during a performance in Karawang, Indonesia.
Telegraph reports that Irma Bule stepped on the snakes’ tail early on in her set, and it bit her on the thigh.
The singer continued performing and apparently refused an antidote. After 45 minutes she suddenly began vomiting, collapsed and was rushed to a local hospital, where she was confirmed to have died. She was 29 years old.
The artist was known for using snakes at her shows and she may have believed the cobra was defanged. Coconuts Jakarta said Bule’s genre, dangdut, is so prevalent in Indonesia that artists increasingly rely on gimmicks to stand out.
