Melvin Benn Handles TITP
Changes include increasing the size of the main arena and relocating the bigger stages to improve stage visibility. To achieve this “organizers have acquired additional land,” an announcement states. Additional staff and signs to guide the festival crowd will also be present at the 2016 edition, which will take place from July 8-10 on Strathallan Estate, Perthshire, Scotland. Promoter DF Concerts was accused of breaching planning conditions and demonstrating weak traffic management at TITP 2015. A campaign group called Strathallan T Action group had also pointed out risks for the local wildlife due to pollution during the festival.
Consequently, Benn, managing director of Festival Republic was brought on board to handle the situation as executive producer. Additional changes to the campsite and transport will be announced in the coming weeks, a spokesperson told Pollstar.
“Our fans are our number one priority and we’ve listened to all of their feedback from last year and now we’re putting that into action,” said Geoff Ellis, festival director and CEO of DF Concerts & Events.
Colin Brown, head of security at T in the Park, added: “This year, fans will notice a visible increase in the numbers of stewards on hand in the main arena. These stewards will be fully briefed to ensure they can provide fans with the correct information. We’ve made sure that communication between the stewards and festival management is seamless – with our specially appointed zone managers being connected at all times — allowing us to resolve any issues as quickly and effectively as possible. Fans will be able to find a member of our team easily for assistance at any time with any questions or assistance, no matter how big or small.”
