Moby Embarks On Book Tour
In “Porcelain: A Memoir,” Moby describes his experiences coming up through the underground dance music scene of the late ’80s and ’90s, his own poverty and the environment that nurtured the music that would eventually make him famous. In his own words: “Porcelain” is about my life from 1989-1999, but it’s also about New York as it transitioned from being a broken, dirty city to the bizarre and stratospherically expensive city it’s become.”
Moby published a number of essays in the liner notes of his albums Play and Everything is Wrong has addressed such themes as veganism, the criminal justice system and religion.
The dance music mainstay has not released a “conventional” album since 2013’s Innocents, but he recently shared four hours of ambient music, titled Long Ambients 1: calm. sleep. The music, mostly synth sounds without drums is available for free download at Moby’s website.
His albums Play and 18 brought mainstream success and led to his selling more than 20 million albums. He has toured internationally and is credited by AllMusic as bringing electronic dance music to a large audiences in North America and the UK. During his career he collaborated with the likes of David Bowie, Michael Jackson and Daft Punk.
