Reviews: Grimes, Bryan Ferry, Huey Lewis, Justin Bieber, Iggy Pop, Duran Duran

Check out what music journalists had to say about Grimes in Oakland, Bryan Ferry in London, Huey Lewis And The News in Roanoke, Justin Bieber in Louisville, Iggy Pop in Miami Beach and Duran Duran in Dallas.

Grimes @ The Fox Theater in Oakland, Calif., April 20 – “There were no other musicians onstage, just Grimes, who occasionally pushed buttons on her synthesizer as she sang along to the tracks. The stage was a sea of swirling, pulsating lights, creating a vibe that meshed perfectly with the music.” – Jim Harrington / Marin Independent Journal /

Bryan Ferry @ The Palladium in London, England, April 20 – “Ferry’s sinuous charm was so overwhelming for one woman that she lept on stage next to him, flicking her skirt up to her knickers, until security gingerly escorted her off. Ferry didn’t even seem to notice.” – Bernadette McNulty / Telegraph

Huey Lewis And The News @ Elmwood Park Amphitheatre in Roanoke, Va., April 20 – “It was mostly about the hits. The band opened with ‘The Heart of Rock & Roll’ and cruised right into ‘If This Is It.’” – Tad Dickens / The Roanoke Times

Justin Bieber @  KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky., April 20 – “For all of the show’s studied coolness, such as the endless drinking of water without uttering a word, it wasn’t bad. Bieber sang really well, danced with a subdued, effortless style, and a lot of the songs were state-of-the-art hybrids of modern pop and dance music.” – Jeffrey Lee Puckett / Courier-Journal

Iggy Pop @ Fillmore Miami Beach At Jackie Gleason Theater, in Miami Beach, Fla., April 19  – “As the band opened the show with the propulsive title track from ‘Lust for Life,’ Pop sprinted onto the stage from behind a rear curtain, wearing a black tuxedo jacket over his lean, bare torso and immediately marking every open space on the stage as his territory.” – Jake Cline /

Performing at The Academy of Music on Friday, April 15, 2016, in Philadelphia.

Duran Duran @ American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, April. 19 – “Lead singer Simon Le Bon, bass player John Taylor and guitarist Dom Brown – along with a couple of dynamic backup singers, Anna Ross and Jessie Wagner, who doubled as dancers – all looked like they were having a blast, especially Taylor and Brown, neither one of whom seemed to stop smiling (even stoic keyboardist Nick Rhodes cracked a couple of smiles, and maybe drummer Roger Taylor did, too, although it was hard to tell behind his kit).” –  Robert Philpot / Star-Telegram
