Mstrkrft Returns For First Tour In Five Years
There are only seven dates scheduled so far and they are all within 12 days. The first show is in Washington, D.C. June 1 and the tour will wrap up with a set in Los Angeles June 11.
The electro-band is made up of Canadians Jesse Keeler and Al-P. Both members are also connected to another popular group: Death from Above 1979. Keeler is a member of Death From Above 1979, and Al-P produced one of that band’s albums.
In addition to these Mstrkrft dates, Death From Above 1979 is currently on a Canadian tour with Eagles of Death Metal and has a number of performances with Awolnation starting June 18. It looks like Jesse Keeler is going to be a very busy man this summer.
Many dance music junkies will recognize the name of Mstrkrft, as its The Looks and Fist of God catapulted the group into public attention, with many recognizable remixes and collaborations alongside John Legend, Ghostface Killah and E-40.
Prior to “Little Red Hen”, the group’s last single was 2011’s “Back in the USSA,” right around when Death from Above 1979 announced a reunion. Mstrkrft has not released a full-length album since 2009, although an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit confirmed that the band has been working on new material since 2014.
Infectious drums and bass rhythms may inspire toe-tapping and dancing at the following locations this summer:
June 1 — Washington, DC, U Street Music Hall
June 2 — Cambridge, Mass., Middle East Downstairs
June 3 — Ottawa, ON, Ritual Nightclub
June 4 — Chicago, Ill., Double Door
June 8 — Denver, Colo., Club Vinyl
June 10 — San Francisco, Calif., The Independent
June 11 — Los Angeles, Calif., Exchange La.
General onsales start April 25 and more information on these shows is available at Mstrkrft’s official Facebook page.
