Ladyhawke To Wing Her Way Across U.S.

New Zealander Ladyhawke is spreading her dance-centric sound across the U.S. in late June and early July. The upcoming tour is in support of her third studio album, Wild Things, which is slated for a June 6 release.

The nine scheduled dates mostly stay around the coasts, with Chicago being the only city not close to an ocean. The run starts in Boston on June 21 and concludes July 6 in San Francisco. Prior to these U.S. dates she also performs thrice in the United Kingdom.

Ladyhawke stormed onto the Pacific indie scene in 2008 with her self-titled debut album earning her two ARIA Breakthrough Artist awards and enabling her to tour internationally. Her next album would be 2012’s Anxiety, but it has now been almost four years since she released new music.

In an interview with Music Feeds Ladyhawke said she began working on a new album in 2013 but ended up scrapping a full album’s worth of content to create Wild Things with Tommy English, who has previously worked with BørnsTiësto and Dark Waves.

The artist said she feels like she can only continue developing a song when she is excited about hearing it, and feels that having an entire album of those songs is something to be proud of.

In the time since her last album Ladyhawke has married actress/musician Madeleine Sami and given up drinking, both of which she said needed to happen in order for her to create an album she could feel good about.

The songstress is known for her dance beats, which in the latest album combine modern indie rock sensibilities with 80’s style synthesizers for a poppy sound which should keep her fans flocking back. She has recently released the music video for the single “A Love Song” and the audio for “Dangerous”, both off the new album.
