Aussie Artist To Paint Prince Mural at Paisley Park

New Zealand-born, Sydney-based Mr. G (Graham Hoet), also a bassist, calls Prince “my idol, whom I grew up listening to incessantly. I was inspired by his music and album artwork.” The 37-year-old spent six hours painting a mural on University Street in Liverpool after he heard of the superstar’s death, “because art has a role in the grieving process.”

The painting went viral, and there were calls on social media from American fans to repeat his feat.

According to Mr. G, he has been in contact with the mayor of Minneapolis and a crowdfunding campaign launched to cover his travel expenses to the United States. He has yet to decide on which building the mural will cover, and estimates it will take up to three days to create.
