After a five year wait, the band will be playing songs from its new album, Ash & Ice, which releases next month. It begins an initial run of North American dates next week, on May 13.

The duo has already released four albums so far, with their indie-rock style evolving throughout the years. The different albums have used production effects to change the songs’ atmospheres and frontwoman Alison Mosshart has found several ways to feature her vocals. Jamie Hince’s guitar stylings have gone from minimalist to complex through the band’s 13 year history, but the group has always managed to maintain a cohesive sound.

Before these September dates, the band has a very busy May, with 13 shows in 18 days on the backend of the month. Then its’s off to Europe, where the band plays throughout July and August. The Kills will also be in Europe after their fall U.S. run, with shows booked through November at such locations as the . It’s going to be a busy year for Mosshart and Hince.

Several of the band’s newly released singles “Heart Of A Dog” and “Doing It To Death” reflect influences from blues/indie rockers like The Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys, while previous albums have more closely resembled the garage-rock style of The White Stripes.
