Lenhoff Retools For Appeal Against UTA, ICM
Lenhoff & Lenhoff appealed May 2 for a federal court to examine a judge’s dismissal of an anti-packaging/antitrust suit against United Talent Agency and ICM Partners, Deadline reports.
Lenhoff, which is run by Charles Lenhoff, is accusing the industry giants essentially of conspiring to keep smaller talent companies from being able to compete in the market by selling packages of their clients to producers, while eliminating the commissions smaller agencies typically charged.
The suit has existed in numerous incarnations since February 2015, and stemmed from accusations of poaching and collusion. Most recently, the plaintiff claimed that this arrangement is detrimental to diversity in casting, as packages are not conducive to adequate representation of minorities, but that claim and the others related to conspiracy were dismissed by U.S. District Judge Beverly Reid O’Connell April 20, according to Law 360.
