Spellens Update
Former Long Beach Arena and Theatre manager Dan Spellens, who has been raising money alongside his wife, Melanie, for a cure and treatments for ALS, provided Pollstar with a quick update on their efforts.
So far, the Melanie & Dan Spellens ALS Research Fund at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, has raised more than $175,000 – 100 percent of which goes directly to ALS research at Cedars-Sinai.
Spellens, who has been living with the condition (aka Lou Gehrig’s disease) for almost four years, told Pollstar he will likely not have the benefit of the research being conducted but he does expect this research to help future generations in preventing and treating this insidious disease.
