Dead Seal At Festival Sparks Investigation

Police are investigating the possible involvement of a band in the killing of a seal at Deoch an Dorus festival in Scotland.

A festivalgoer reported on his Facebook page that a member of the band Azure Halo had killed a seal with a rock. He also claims to have witnessed the band member tossing the dead animal around backstage.

Other witnesses claim they had seen a long-dead seal lying at the nearby beach before it ended up backstage, which, according to festival organizer Rory Gordon may have been the work of a dog. Police are inquiring, according to The Scotsman.

A statement on Deoch an Dorus’ Facebook page reads: “We were made aware of a suggestion that a seal had been harmed. We instantly followed this up and our investigation led us to believe that it had actually been a seal that had been dead since before the festival even began. It was then concluded that perhaps a dog had brought it up from the rocks to the backstage area.

“When we questioned the act they assured us they were trying to remove the deceased animal and without any witnesses who actually saw anything contrary, we had no reason to doubt them.”

The alleged eye-witness who had started the whole investigation with his Facebook post also published another statement: “I stand by every word of my original post. The actions of a few individuals were called into question (on my personal FB) and the response has been overwhelming.”
