Keys N Krates
Sole Power Productions’ Dave Weisz, who co-manages the band, was impressed early on.
“Originally they were doing everything live so … all the remixes were creations using their instruments. Nothing was produced on laptops,” Weisz told Pollstar. “It was very different from what everyone else was doing and felt very real.”
The act also caught the attention of Adam Gill, president of 2+2 Management, through word-of-mouth.
“The first time I saw them was at this Red Bull Tour I helped to promote at Circa in Toronto in 2009,” Gill told Pollstar. “I was totally blown away by them as their performance was unlike anything I’d seen before. They started out doing live remixes of other peoples’ music but once they started releasing original music … it really took off for them.”
Tours with Lotus, Bassnectar, Steve Aoki and Pretty Lights as well as releasing 2013’s SOLOW EP and 2014’s Every Nite EP kept the fans coming.
Keys N Krates has been on the road behind its Midnite Mass EP since January and Weisz said, “The touring never stops!” Summer festivals throughout Europe and North America are set, with plans for fall and winter tours in the works.
“Whether you’re into rap or dance music, a Keys N Krates live show is a real experience and the fans are so drawn to that,” Weisz said.
Gill agreed and added, “Keys N Krates have been combining hip hop and electronic music since they started and now, more than ever, the two worlds are combining. It’s an exciting time.”
