Gov’t Mule is the latest act set to travel with Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard and Dusty Hill.  ZZ Top will do a series of shows with Gregg Allman beginning in August and running through Octrober.  June through July has the band in Europe playing headlining dates as well as a few festival gigs, such as Switzerland’s Montreaux Jazz Fest, Germany’s Tollwood, and Finland’s Rockin’ Bastion.

Gov’t Mule has added a ZZ Top tune to the band’s catalog.  Due Aug. 5, the Tel-Star Sessions features Gov’t Mule’s earliest demos, including a 1994 recording of ZZ Top’s “Just Got Paid.”  Plus, Billy Gibbons appeared on Gov’t Mule’s 2009 album,  By A Thread.

“ZZ Top and the Mule are cut from the same dyed-in-the-blues cloth,” Billy Gibbons said.  “I’ve long admired the band and Warren Haynes’ guitar work.  He has a certain grit to everything he does.  We’re gonna have a fine time.”
