My Morning Jacket’s One Big Holiday 2017
The party takes place Feb. 4-8 at the luxurious, all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, which is located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, Mexico.
MMJ is bringing along Gary Clark Jr., The Head and the Heart, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Deer Tick, and Lucius. My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel will take the stage a fourth time to put on a sunset set. Plus, Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards has signed on for a late night DJ set.
As for the exciting happenings, organizers are promising artist-hosted activities, workshops, poolside games, cooking demos, theme nights and more. While all meals, beverages and activities are included in the event package price, attendees can opt for even more fun with off-site excursions, including zip-lining and visiting the Mayan ruins.
Football fans may have noticed that next year’s Super Bowl is scheduled during One Big Holiday. A special viewing party is being planned, with a specially curated feast cooked up by guest chefs Bobby Benjamin and Chad Welch from Butchertown.
Attendees will also have the chance to participate in a day of service and cultural connection through a partnership with charitable organization Positive Legacy.
“We are thrilled to return to our One Big Holiday adventure! With only the fondest of memories from our previous years scaling the cosmos of the Riviera Maya, we can’t wait to rejoin such a magical place with some of our favorite people. Excited to see our pals, old and new, all come together for music, art, magic and celebrating this thing we call life!” MMJ said in a joint statement.
