Billboard Awards Hits 4-Year Low
Good news: The latest Billboard Awards show won a viewership of 9.76 million for its May 22 broadcast, wiping out its competition on a sleepy Sunday evening. Bad news: it dropped nearly 25 percent viewership from the previous year.

The awards show, featuring Madonna’s pitchy tribute to Prince and BET’s threatening advert it would do better at its awards show, Britney Spears’ medley and The Go-Gos’ tour announcement, wrapped the final Sunday of May Sweeps with a strong rating. However, it was the lowest-rated show since 2012 when the awards show drew a 2.7 rating with 7.4 million viewers.

The awards show ranked fifth for the week behind two versions of “NCIS,” “Dancing With The Stars,” and “Empire.”
