Bob Mehr Talks ‘Trouble Boys’
The detailed account of the Minneapolis band involved nearly a decade of research, hundreds of interviews and the group’s archives at Twin/Tone and Warner Bros. Records. Members of the Replacements worked with Mehr during the writing process including Paul Westerberg (singer/songerwriter), Tommy Stinson (bassist), Slim Dunlop (guitarist), and the “family of late band founder Bob Stinson.”
The book was released in March and landed on the New York Times’ “Celebrities Best Sellers” list. Rolling Stone applauded Mehr for “vividly charting the [band’s] bumpy arc … delivering mythic battle tales like a barroom historian.” USA Today said it was a “compelling tale full of some of the most colorful characters you’ll ever encounter on page.”
