Steely Dan Brings Ecstasy To NYC Residency

The countdown is on to Steely Dan’s next Beacon Theatre residency. A handful of albums will once again be performed from start to finish, including the debut of 1973’s Countdown to Ecstasy in its entirety.

That’s right – in addition to singles like “Show Biz Kids” and “My Old School,” fans will also get to hear gems like “Your Gold Teeth” and “Pearl Of The Quarter.”

This time around Walter Becker and Donald Fagen have signed on for 10 shows at the New York venue. The dynamic duo will be joined by their fabulous band featuring a four-piece horn section, three backup vocalists, Jon Herington on guitar, Keith Carlock on drums, Freddie Washington on bass, and Jim Beard on keyboards.

Steely Dan will also be showing off 1976’s The Royal Scam, 1977’s Aja and 1980’s Gaucho. Plus, the band will throw in a set of hits to go along with the album performances.

Four nights feature special guest Rickie Lee Jones and another evening is devoted to the fans’ whims – “by popular demand.” The residency wraps up with a night that’s nothing but hits.

Here’s the plan:

Oct. 12 – The Royal Scam and hits
Oct. 14 – special guest Rickie Lee Jones
Oct. 15 – special guest Rickie Lee Jones

Oct. 19 – by popular demand
