Brandy Clark’s ‘Big Day In A Small Town’

Brandy Clark kicks off her summer tour today. The outing includes headline shows, festivals and appearances with Jennifer NettlesAaron WatsonChris Stapleton and Toby Keith.

Clark began her career in Nashville as a songwriter. She wrote The Band Perry’s “Better Dig Two,” Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart,” and Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow,” which won CMA’s Song of the Year Award in 2014.

Clark’s critically acclaimed debut 12 Stories was released last year and her follow up, Big Day In A Small Town, drops June 10. The Morton, Wash., native knows what it’s like to grow up in rural America. She tells the stories of such characters through songs like “Homecoming Queen,” “Broke” and “Since You’ve Gone To Heaven.”

“I like to say that Big Day is 12 Stories’ cousin,” Clark said. “They’re definitely related, but I didn’t want the songs on our new album to just be an extension of what we’d covered before. I’ve lived a lot in those few years. I had never toured before 12 Stories, so that was a big change in how I personally approached the new music.”
