Prophets Of Rage Brings The Rage

After rocking Prophets Of Rage’s debut performance Tuesday night, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford returns to the stage Friday with Public Enemy’s Chuck D and DJ Lord, and Cypress Hill’s B-Real.

The group’s website proclaims that the musicians joined forces because, “We can no longer stand on the sidelines of history. Dangerous times demand dangerous songs. It’s time to take the power back.”

In a video released this week Morello adds, “Injustice needs a fist in the face. And in America’s greatest hour of need, Prophets of Rage have come together.”

Well, there’s at least one good thing to come out of this election cycle. Check out the video below for B-Real’s message for Donald Trump.

The headline for Rolling Stone’s review of Tuesday’s show at Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood declared: “Prophets Of Rage Set Defiant Tone At Explosive L.A. Debut.”

RS noted, “The set leaned heavily on the RATM catalog, but also included two new songs, ‘Shut Them Down’ and ‘The Party’s Over.’ There were also hits from both Cypress Hill and Public Enemy, each player and rapper finding spots where the new collaboration could thrive.

“During PE’s ‘Miuzi Weighs a Ton,’ Morello’s guitar was largely silent until he suddenly ripped open a molten lead, then followed with another on the RATM classic ‘People of the Sun.’ The beat and heavy bass of ‘Take the Power Back’ sent fans moshing and bouncing into the air, while Chuck D roared through the lead vocal like it was written for him.”

Prophets Of Rage’s June 3 gig takes place at The Hollywood Palladium. Tickets went on sale this morning at the box office.

Proceeds from both Hollywood shows will be donated to P.A.T.H. (People Assisting The Homeless).

According to a countdown clock on Prophets Of Rage’s website, the band’s next update will be revealed June 6 at 10 a.m. PDT.
